Unboxing Instructions.

Checking everything is there

Step 1: Rosetta FX Device

  • Carefully remove the Rosetta-FX Device from its packaging. Handle it by the case to avoid electrostatic discharge to the pins of the gold SMA connectors.
  • Inspect the device for any visible signs of damage before proceeding.
  • If there is any damage or anything is missing contact your supplier.

Step 2: Antennas

Standard Internal Kit:

  • The standard FX comes supplied with two remote internal antennas and a remote internal GPS antenna.
  • Unpack and identify the two internal dipole antennas connected with gold coaxial cable.
  • The shorter antenna (105mm) is specifically tuned to 1090MHz for ADS-B reception, while the longer antenna (135mm) is tuned for PilotAware transmissions at 869.5MHz. These are not interchangeable and must be connected to the correct SMA connector on the FX. (Described in the installation section.)
  • The remote internal GPS is provided to allow the FX box to be neatly installed behind the dashboard, or any other convenient position.
  • The remote GPS can then be positioned at a convenient location with a good view of the satellite constellations, such as on the dashboard cowling.

Optional External Antenna Kit:

  • The optional External Antenna FX comes supplied with two remote external antennas, coaxial cable and a remote internal GPS antenna.
  • Identify and set aside the two individual external aviation antennas—one short, one long.
  • The shorter antenna (55mm) is specifically tuned to 1090MHz for ADS-B reception, while the longer antenna (75mm) is tuned for PilotAware transmissions at 869.5MHz. These are not interchangeable and must be connected to the correct SMA connector on the FX. (Described in the installation section.)
  • Check that there are two 2M coaxial cables to connect the antennas to main FX device.
  • The remote internal GPS is provided to allow the FX box to be neatly installed behind the dashboard, or any other convenient position.
  • The remote GPS can then be positioned at a convenient location with a good view of the satellite constellations, such as on the dashboard cowling.

Step 3: Power and Connection Cables

Gather the remaining cables and lay them out separately ensuring that you have the following:

  • RJ12 cable to be used to connect to an existing FLARM unit and FLARM display.
  • One Molex-SL fused power cable, solely for 12-30V power.
  • One USB-C cable, solely for power.

Examine each cable for any signs of wear or damage to ensure optimal performance upon installation. If there are any issues contact us at support@pilotaware.com
